On today’s episode we have part 1 of 2 with Mike Carroll. You probably know him as Fit for Golf. He has an awesome presence on twitter and he runs the amazing Fit for Golf fitness app.
Something he’s done that has really stood out to me is his interest in the proper ways to get better, not just throwing everything at the wall and hoping it sticks.
Even though he’s not explicitly knowledgable in psychology, I think he brings a ton of great perspective and experience from his own learning in the game. I’m confident this conversation can directly help you play better golf through improving your mind.

On today’s episode we have Will Shaw. He’s the founder of the popular golf website Golf Insider UK which heavily covers better ways to practice. He’s a PGA Pro who works with players on their swings and their physical training. He teaches as Leeds Beckett University on sport biomechanics and skill acquisition, which means he specializes in the most optimal ways to practice. He has his masters in in exercise science, and his PhD in biomedical science. He knows a ton about practice and that makes up the bulk of what we talk about. So if you’re looking for ways to get the most out of your time at the course, this episode definitely covers that.
We also of course get into the link between practice and the mental game.
This is part 1 of a two part conversation with Dr. Shaw, so there’s a lot of great info to be gained. Take notes because I know this info can help you improve!

On today’s episode we’re talking about the yips. How do yips start, why do they continue, and how to systematically get rid of them.
You’re going to hear me use the word yips a lot in this episode, which might at first make you feel uncomfortable. But I believe naming it, talking about it openly, and facing your fears can destigmatize it in your own mind. So hang there and lean into it.
And this isn’t just about the yips. This applies to anytime your fear of an outcome takes over and causes you to hit bad shots. Which is a much broader issue that we all face, even if you don’t struggle with the yips specifically.
So let’s dig in and learn how to get rid of the yips.

On today’s episode we have Henry Shimp. He recently graduated from playing at Stanford. His scoring average was 72.45 across 120 rounds, he was PAC 12 scholar athlete of the year in 2022. He was part of Stanfords NCAA team victory in 2019. And he now runs a golf podcast called The Tie. It’s a fascinating podcast where he and his co host Walker Simas talk with a wide variety of people about their tie to golf.
This episode is a little different. We take our time getting to the nitty gritty of golf psychology but I think this is a very interesting conversation about Henry as a person and golfer and how his relationship with the game has changed throughout the years. But we get into some really good stuff with Henry’s battle with his chipping and how mental it’s become so hang in there for that.
